La ciudad maya de Chich\u00e9n Itz\u00e1 esta ubicada en el norte de la Pen\u00ednsula de Yucat\u00e1n, muy cerca de la ciudad colonial de Valladolid<\/a>. Es uno de los sitios arqueol\u00f3gicos<\/a> m\u00e1s tard\u00edos de la civilizaci\u00f3n maya y se desarroll\u00f3 en distintas etapas, de las cuales aun quedan monumentales edificios. La zona muestra evidencias de influencia tolteca, tanto en la arquitectura como en el arte . Se considera que Chich\u00e9n Itz\u00e1 floreci\u00f3 en dos diferentes etapas, la primera entre el 600-900 d. c. cuando se construyeron edificios del estilo Puuc, y la segunda a la llegada de los petenes, quienes emigraron de Campeche en el siglo X.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

El primero en dejar constancia de las impresionantes ruinas de Chich\u00e9n Itz\u00e1 fue\u00a0<\/strong>fray Diego de Landa, que describi\u00f3, en 1566, los extraordinarios edificios que hab\u00edan escondidos en la selva tras varios siglos de abandono, el Templo de los Guerreros, el Castillo, el grupo de las mil columnas entre otras, tambi\u00e9n algunas de las an\u00e9cdotas que contaban los mayas actuales sobre sus antepasados.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Las plataformas construidas de Chich\u00e9n Itz\u00e1<\/strong>, ocupan una amplia superficie y presentan varios estilos arquitect\u00f3nicos que corresponden con las diferentes etapas de su evoluci\u00f3n. Puede distinguirse entre el llamado Chich\u00e9n Viejo, con construcciones del estilo Puuc<\/strong>, y el Chich\u00e9n Nuevo, que data de principios del siglo X, cuando, seg\u00fan recoge la tradici\u00f3n maya, llegaron grupos procedentes del centro de M\u00e9xico llamados toltecas<\/strong> que adornaban a Quetzalc\u00f3atl o Kukulc\u00e1n<\/strong> nombre dado por los mayas, dios representado como una serpiente emplumada.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
